Course Description:

This course is designed to introduce students to the broad spectrum of psychology as a science. In it, students will learn what psychology is and to apply what we learn to questions in the real world, learn to recognize and differentiate between different psychological perspectives and the questions they seek to answer, and understand how the scientific method is utilized to answer questions about human behavior.

This course is designed to introduce students to sensation and perception research in psychology. This includes each of the major sensory systems, and how those sensory systems are processed within the brain to create the basis of psychological functioning.

This course gives hands-on experience with the basic tools and practices used in conducting psychological research (e.g., identifying and evaluating relevant research/literature, developing hypotheses and research proposals, constructing psychological surveys, analyzing data using statistical software, and presenting research/data to others
